In a cell which recreates her parents' bedroom, the artist brings together the colours red (passion) and black (tragedy). Bourgeois, who lives in the United States, has been strongly inspired by her own unconscious. With "Red Room", she returns to the theme of her relationship with her parents. The diverse elements which make up the work, along with the colours red and black, show that these relations oscillated between passion and tragedy.
