Zhang Peili Born in 1957 in China. Lives and works in Hangzhou (China). "Uncertain pleasure" (1996), video installation: men scratching themselves. Zhang Peili studies the possibilities and limits of the human body. In this installation, repetitive scratching behaviour precludes all communication. In effect, the body is reduced to a gesture reproduced ad nauseam and enclosed in a monitor.
