On September 7 the Biennial will be organising a great art festival in Place Bellecour. Groups from Lyon itself, as well as the surrounding conurbation, will be creating works “live”, in workshops, as well as individuals and graffiti artists, around the theme “l’Autre” (the Other).
Groups projects : from June to August artists will be supervising those groups in workshops, providing them technical training and waking them sensitive to contemporary art and to the theme “l’Autre” (works on flat surfaces or in three dimensions, musics or choregraphies). Each group will fill up and organise the 88 m2 space allowed to each of them, on their will. 15 projects already selected offer original variations on the theme of “l’Autre”. “Graffiti artists event”: graffiti art, which is an artistic creation claiming and waiting for recognition, will review a means of expression outside accepted codes. In support of this quest for acknowledgement, “l’Art sur la Place” will ask graffiti artists to paint frescos on the theme of “l’Autre” on the Place Bellecour as a public demonstration at their art. Five doors will be given to the Lyon and Rhône-Alpes groups, and four walls in the middle of the Place Bellecour will be offered to artists from all over France. To those who will be taking part as individuals, both nascent artists and those who have already taken some significant steps along that road, as well as for those who have never tried their hand at an artistic exercise, the invitation goes out. From now on, you can sign-up to participate by creating and exhibiting on this day dedicated to festivity and art.
