LA SUCRIÈRE

Built in the 1930s and extended in 1960, La Sucrière was a warehouse until the 1990s. In 2003 it was renovated and became the focal point of the Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art; this was a major step towards the conversion of Port Rambaud into a space open to the public. Visitors enter via the former silos, following the path of the sugar deliveries of the past – a great initial contact with the 7000 sqm building and an eloquent evocation of its past.
