SHEELA GOWDA
born 1957 in Bhadravati, India
lives and works in Bangalore
Sheela Gowda’s sculptures and installations are often made of the cowpats also used in rural India as fuel and building material. The new work she has created for the Biennial is a set of the cooking stones used in traditional Indian kitchens. She photographs these objects in context then makes moulds which she places in and around her exhibition venues.
